Class Progress.

Class has been progressing at a satisfactory pace and most of us have put in a decent effort. We are here trying to broaden our horizons and be quick on our feet when we are faced with a topic.

We have to continue to work hard and let our imagination help us be creative in our responses.

Exam Week!!

You are aware that this is exam week and I will record your scores based on the recordings you have made in your recorder. Remember this is a class that requires you to think and though there might not be much written work involved, the ability to think on the go (think fast) is a must. 

Objective of the class.

The objective of this class is to prepare you for your TOEFL Speaking. It is therefore of utmost importance for you to develop ideas quickly and have the confidence to speak up.

You must be able to express yourself efficiently and effectively. Learn to form and develop ideas even if it is not a topic with which you are familiar with or a topic which you are opposed to. Learn to look at different perspectives and points of view.

We must all learn to look at things from different angles and how the thoughts that we have affect our surroundings.  USE YOUR IMAGINATION. There is no "right answer", only your views and opinions.

 Homework:  Think about ways to relieve stress. 

Recorder REminder.

 I am in the process of listening to our first recording. We will be going through our mistakes and concentrating on how we can improve and what we can do better in class on Monday.

Our scoring criteria will be based on your:  Grammar
                                                                 Sentence Structure
                                                                 Word Usage
                                                                 TOEFL Testing format (Main Idea, reason, details)

Recorder.

A reminder that all students will need a recorder in class. Please go and buy a voice recorder for class as soon as possible.

Would you support or oppose the construction of a large new factory new your community?
  Support Vs oppose.

Students should provide specific details about their neighborhood as oppose to an abstract neighborhood in general.
